to the wild beauty of Maremma, each "Gio" carries the same spirit
—
warm hospitality, playful curiosity, and the timeless elegance
of Italy
This is the House of Gio. A family of experiences, united by one promise: to welcome you with sincerity, to share the beauty we love, and to remind you that life is richer when lived with an open heart.
MOREWe create spaces that feel alive.
A Roman loft full of history. A Tuscan estate where time slows
down.
Apartments, horses, workshops, celebrations - each "Gio" a
different chapter of the same story.
We believe in the art of feeling at home, wherever the journey
takes you.
We
exist to inspire connection - with places, with nature, with
culture, with oneself.
The House of Gio was born from a feeling rather than a plan: a love for beautiful things, meaningful encounters, and the Italian art of living.
The name “Gio” honours Giovanni, an ancestor whose laughter filled every room and whose Tuscan heart celebrated nature, food, friendship and culture. From him we learned the joy of welcoming others — and so our “house” became more than a place; it became a way of being.

Meet the animals of the ranch, each part of the rhythm of life
you'll experience here.
I am a soulful Criollo and the proud leader of the herd. I love wild hacks and taking care of humans, especially kids and beginners — with me it’s all about joy and becoming one with nature. I can canter too, but sometimes I need a little encouragement to show off.
I am an experienced Appaloosa who joined the ranch from Punta Ala Polo Club. I love leading the way and I’ve won most races during our monthly Tuscany Trail. Sure-footed, calm, and confident — perfect for medium to experienced riders.
I am a strong Haflinger who can sprint fast and still walk for days without complaint. Yes, I love my food — but in the hands of an experienced rider, I truly shine. I may not have Ambra’s curls, but my longer legs make me the sexier one.
Young, beautiful, feisty — and French! They call me Barbie thanks to my blond Haflinger looks and strong Quarter Horse spirit. I ride with all levels but thrive with seasoned riders, and I never say no to carrots.
I am a pedigree American Paint and a super chill guy — a bit of a ladies’ man, if you ask around. I know all the western disciplines and happily ride with all levels. My name means God of Wind in Nordic mythology, and I like to live up to it.
I am a cosmopolitan Arabian mare from Siena, rescued by Gio, so we share a very special bond. Fast, agile, and full of spirit, I ride only with very experienced riders. With me it’s simple — I either walk or gallop, nothing in between.
I am second in command of the herd and often do the “dirty work” for California. A strong, patient, and sure-footed American Paint, I ride with all levels — especially when I can bond with my rider. I love taking care of humans and keeping the herd in line.
I am an Argentinian supermodel and Patrick’s personal horse — and yes, he doesn’t like sharing me. I only ride with a chosen few and I’m known for my strength, athleticism, and beautifully soft gallop. When I move, people notice.
My name means Duke of Sicily, and I am a grand and gorgeous Appaloosa gentleman. Soft-mannered and elegant, I usually ride with Arianna — we are quite the pair. I’m happy to ride with all levels and always keep things smooth and stylish.
I arrived at Gio Ranch with my sister Freja, bringing Sicilian beauty and strength with us. I can match the fastest horse when needed, but I’m equally happy to enjoy a peaceful walk. My name means Goddess — and honestly, I live up to it.
I am a young, muscular Criollo with a little feisty spirit and very sure feet. Built for adventure, I’m ready for long multi-day rides or a quick sprint — whatever the day brings. I’m best suited for medium to experienced riders who love smooth movement.
I am a Sicilian beauty who arrived with some past trauma, but thanks to Gio and the team, I’ve rediscovered my joy. I ride with all levels, though I truly love galloping with experienced riders. Strong and confident, I’ll take you anywhere.
I am another proud Sicilian and the latest rescue to join the herd. I’m currently training with Gio and the team and getting used to kind humans again. Strong and sure-footed, I can’t wait to welcome riders onto the trails soon.
I was born right here at the ranch, surrounded by the herd, so I’m truly one of the originals. A Dutch guest named Robin inspired my name with her love of chips, and Patrick of course added Tequila. I’ve recently started joining the trails and loving every step.
I am the youngest foal of the ranch and proudly the only pedigree Blue Roan Paint in Italy. With spectacular parents, expectations are high — but so far I’m living up to them. I’m still growing, still learning, and already very chill with humans.
I am a miniature Appaloosa — not a pony! — and yes, I’m clearly more beautiful than Antares and Duca, quite a registered pedigree. They say less is more, and I prove it every day. I love joining trails, running fast, and going for walks with visitors.
I am a miniature donkey and Patrick’s birthday gift, so naturally we get along very well. I’m affectionate, curious, and always happy to meet new humans. Bring carrots or flowers and we’ll be instant friends.
I am a miniature Quarter horse and the only true stallion in the mini crew. Handsome, confident, and always ready for attention, I love showing off a little. My best friends are Matilda and Martini, and we’re usually found together.
I am a Silken Windsprite born in the Netherlands, known for my speed and charm. I fathered 13 puppies with Lilibet before moving out to the barn when responsibility called. My greatest passion in life? Girls, girls, girls.
I am an Irish Wolfhound born in Italy and proudly known as the gentle giant. Despite my size, I am sweet, playful, and wonderful with kids. Stella is my best friend — though she insists she’s my mum.
I am a rescue mix of Maremma Shepherd and Labrador who found this family when they needed protection. Friendly with everyone and always watchful, I love joining wild hacks whenever I can. Brindle thinks he’s my son — and honestly, I let him believe it.
I am the Princess Royal of Silkentails, born to Jet and Lilibet. Life is still new and exciting, and I’m happily exploring everything around me. I love cuddles, trail rides, and keeping an eye on the horses.
We are the sister act who were abandoned at just two weeks old until Gio rescued us and Lilibet welcomed us into her litter. Gin wears the pink collar, is a little chubbier, and definitely the princess. Tonic wears red, is more athletic, and always ready for adventure.

House of Gio is owned by Gio and Patrick
An international couple with different backgrounds who met and fell in love in Amsterdam over 15 years ago. From the very beginning, we have encouraged each other to listen to our hearts and to pursue ideas that felt meaningful, even when they seemed unexpected.
We are both relentless romantics. Our journey started with Archipelago — an antique shop on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, where we also lived upstairs and built our first shared dream. From there, we allowed ourselves to follow bolder visions.
That path led us from Amsterdam to Italy — first chasing the dream of becoming "cowboys" in Tuscany, surrounded by rolling hills, olive trees, and horses in open fields. Along the way, we saw an old garage in central Roma, bought it on the spot, and transformed it into a luxury loft — proving once again that passion and instinct often guide us better than plans.
Together, these spaces form House of Gio — a family of experiences shaped by heritage, grounded in nature, and inspired by connection. Our simple wish is to create places where people feel welcome, alive, and truly present.
We continue to encourage each other to follow our hearts — sometimes raising a few eyebrows along the way — and we know our journey is far from finished. We don't know what the future holds.
But we are moving forward — together.
Stay tuned.
